Dvorak - Quartet in F major 'American'
Performing in the round, we will present four seminal American string quartets, allowing the audience to get closer to these evocative and dramatic works. From the overflowing melodies of Dvorak's 'American' Quartet to Crumb's 'Black Angels' for electric string quartet, a vividly descriptive work inspired by the Vietnam War, the programme traces the development of American chamber music.

Ligeti - Quartet no.1 'Metamorphoses Nocturnes'
We're returning to St James's Piccadilly as part of the Park Lane Group scheme, to perform two highly contrasting quartets. The Schubert, written when he was only 16, is full of melodic charm and lyricism whilst the Ligeti contains some of the most exciting and influential quartet writing of the 20th Century.

Adès - The Four Quarters
Beethoven - Quartet in E minor Op.59 no.2
Thomas Adès – The Four Quarters
Britten Quartet No. 3
Janacek Quartet No. 1 "Kreutzer" in motion
The programme features two of our favourite works for quartet by Britten and Ades, linking in with Omnibus's ‘96 festival’. The Janacek which follows is full of themes of jealousy, love and deception. We play it standing and from memory in a performance which allows us to get closer to the drama of the work and show the interaction of the four distinct, and sometimes violently juxtaposed, voices of the quartet.
We are performing Mendelssohn Octet with the Brodsky Quartet at this special gala dinner for City Music Foundation who have helped us so much over the past few years.
